The Branch Museum Of Natural History Museum

Natural History Branch Museum under Shanghai Science & Technology Museum (formerly known as Shanghai Natural History Museum) was built in 1956 and moved to its present site in 1958 (260 Yanan Road). It houses an impressive collection of over 3,000 specimens of rare and precious animals. With an exhibition space of about 3000 square meters, the Natural History Branch Museum is one of the nation's largest facilities on natural history. It contains a number of halls dedicated to dinosaur, prehistoric animals, paleoanthropology, ancient corpses, invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church located on Jiangxi Road, Huangpu District, is Shanghai’s earliest Christian church. It’s an eclectic mix of various architectural elements, but in 1893, to the left of the church a towering bell tower was erected, which lent a Gothic air to the church. The bell tower had a corn-shaped roof and four spires and housed a musical clock. Before buildings of over 10 floors appeared in Shanghai in the ‘30s, Holy Trinity Church was Shanghai’s highest point and the most eye-catching landmark, which was the first thing that heaved into view for passengers onboard ships. The bell tower was razed to the ground in 1966; the plan to restore it is afoot.
