Shanghai Metro Line 2 Connects Pudong and Hongqiao Airports

PASSENGERS are able to travel between Shanghai's two international airports within about two hours on Metro Line 2 since Apr. 8, 2010 when the line extends further east. The price for a single trip between the two airports is 8 yuan (US$1.17).

With the opening of its east extension, stations of the Metro Line 2 reach 30. They are:
Xujingdong —— Hongqiao Railway Station ——Hongqiao Terminal 2 —— Songhong Road —— Beixinjing —— Weining Road —— Loushanguan Road —— Zhongshan Park —— Jiangsu Road —— Jing'an Temple —— Nanjing Road (W) —— People's Square —— Nanjing Road (E) —— LuJiaZui —— Dongchang Road —— Century Avenue —— Shanghai Science and Technology Museum —— Century Park —— Longyang Road —— Zhangjiang High Technology Park —— Jinke Road —— Guanglan Road (Interchange another train to Pudong International Airport) —— Tangzhen —— Chuangxin Road (M) —— Huaxia Road (E) —— Chuansha —— Lingkong Road —— Yuandong Avenue —— Haitiansan Road —— Pudong International Airport

  To the Hongqiao International Airport

Line 2 extended westward all the way to Hongqiao International Airport in Mar. 16, 2010. The west extension consists of 3 stations, which are Hongqiao Terminal 2, Hongqiao Railway Station and Xujingdong.

  To the Pudong International Airport
Travelers going to Pudong International Airport must first get off at Guanglan Road Station, the current eastern terminal. Four-carriage trains will then take them to the airport.

Trains from Guanglan Road Station to Pudong Airport will run between 9am and 4pm at first to cover rush hours before the World Expo opens in May. Trains will run every 13 minutes, eventually shortening to about 8 minutes.

That's a lot slower than the Shanghai Maglev, which goes from Line 2's Longyang Road Station to the Pudong airport, 30 kilometers, in less than eight minutes.

But it's a lot cheaper. The basic charge for a maglev ride is 50 yuan (US$7.32). To ride the Metro all the way between the two airports is eight yuan.
