Square Pagoda Park

The garden is centered around the Song Dynasty Square Pagoda (originally Xingshengjiao Temple Pagoda) which is a national cultural relic. It is surrounded by ancient buildings including the municipal cultural relic Ming Dynasty carved stone wall, and district cultural relics including the Song Dynasty Wangxian Bridge, Ming Dynasty Lanrui Hall (aka Nanmu Hall), Qing Dynasty Tianfei Palace and Chen Huacheng Temple, a mock ancient corridor (includes calligraphy by Dong Qichang imitating Huai Su's style), an ancient trench-like pathway, Helouxuan Pavilion, and Wulao Peaks etc.

The ancient architecture is accompanied by outstanding natural beauty which includes a quiet and secluded bamboo forest and beautiful floral displays. The spaces between the pagoda and other scenic spots are not cluttered with trees, flowers, or activity areas. This further highlights the historical value, beauty, simplicity, and tranquility of these sites. The facilities such as the tea room, small shops, reception office, and management office, were designed to mimic and work in harmony with the cultural atmosphere of the park.
