Shanghai Animation and Comics Museum covers an area of 7,000 square meters. Shanghai Natural History Museum

Shanghai Natural Science History Museum stresses “Nature, People, Harmony” and divides into three sections: “Ode to Evolution”, “Scroll of Life” and “Epic of Civilization”. It has on display over 11,000 specimen and models from around the world, including over 1,000 of precious and rare species. A nearly 1,500sqm recreates the dynamic African prairie. “Gathering Across Time and Space”, an array of large specimens, brings together over 200 flora and fauna stars from China and other parts of the world. Five sunken theaters, one of which is “Out of Cretaceous Age”, retrace the big events in the evolutionary history of life. The 300sqm live animal feeding zone makes one feel at one with nature; the 1,200sqm “Exploration Center” is a wonderland for observation, experiment and exploration-savvy visitors.

Up-Artsh Museum

Up-Artsh Museum is a new art institution in Baoshan District. Formerly a warehouse for rail freight, the museum was renovated in 2013. Today, the museum features 198 freight containers converted into art space and covers and an area of 6,000 square meters that are stacked on top of each other, and therefore, its Chinese name is 叠 ('die', which means to stack).
